As a sheltered kid, 'kiss my grits' was about as racy as it got at my house, except when my dad watched baseball games and swore at the TV. Even though the show was supposed to represent the time it was made, I wonder how many diners like the one depicted were around at the time. And how many are around today. It's kind of a time capsule of a place replaced by fast food joints and fancy coffee shops. Anyhow, I guess I don't specifically remember when telling customers to kiss her grits was appropriate, but Flo must have had her reasons.
